Jan 04, 2018 · The ticking sound usually starts within 3 minutes after start up during warm up idle. The attached video accurately depicts the noise emitting from the front portion of the truck in -10'C and warmer. (louder at colder temps) It will dissipate after engine is warmed up turning into an acceptable, shallow ticking noise.
When I'm idling I can hear a ticking noise coming from the engine -- and it's simply annoying. When I accelerate or am at speed all is well and the engine hums beautifully. The other thing I should note is that at times when the car is warm and I come to a stop, the idle can get a little rough.
It sounds like timing chain, and I don't hear it at speed.I almost thought it might be a rod bearing with slop but it disappears at engine above idle.I heard it at idle when I bought the van.But after replacing the cat it was still there. Can I ignore it? I am getting tired of fixing every thing that is not perfect! It has 82,000 on it now!
Hey guys, I have a 2013 6.2L SCREW with 9,100 miles on it. I was just wondering has anyone experienced a ticking sound coming from the engine under acceleration? The only mods I have done to my Raptor are a Flowmaster Super 44 and a K&N drop in filter. I use Royal Purple 5W-20 oil and Royal Purple filter.
Now when the engine is at idle there is a slight tick coming out of the upper engine. The tick is only there at RPMs below 2,000, and is not a loud knocking sound. below is a video. Feb 07, 2008 · If a valve is "ticking" the noise will be constant no matter the load on the engine. If you have an exhaust leak, the "ticking" will incerase/decrease according to load on the engine. Timing chains were stretched and guides were almost gone... see my other video for further info...the car is now acting a little bit funny, it has a hard time starting, the ticking has gotten worse, and now the engine hesitates and bogs out from an idle, but not consistently. Sometimes it will idle fine for 10 mins or more. Im currently focused on the egr system after finding this video
Okay, this sounds familiar. Early in the release of the '04 engine, a great debate raged as to whether the '04 (and beyond) engine had pilot injection. In fact, it does not have PI. What stumped a lot of people was that the '04 engine was really quiet at idle, but if you barely touched the throttle, it would rattle like a 7.3.
By "noisy" I assume you are referring to the engine noise and particularly when the car is idling. I have an 07 A4 2.0T and yes the engine is a bit loud, sort of like a diesel. The reason for this has to do with the direct injection. This may sound stupid but don't focus on it.
Injectors ticking are not a problem and you can drive with confidence. Another tick could be from an exhaust manifold leak. As high-pressure exhaust escapes from a crack in the manifold or a leak in the gasket it will sound like ticking or clicking especially at idle or low engine RPMs.

A clogged air filter may cause your blower to idle roughly as well. Air filters can be cleaned to ensure they run properly, and should be inspected as part of your normal blower maintenance routine. If the air filter in your leaf blower is partially plugged, it can cause your engine to run, but die at full throttle. This causes engine clatter when accelerating and the engine clicks as it hits the guides. Spark knock usually happens at idle and smooths out when you're driving, but the condition is still present. An engine ticking noise might seem fairly normal, but it could be an early sign of low oil pressure.
You have to remember that we have timing chain engines that are completely impossible to silence. Mine ticks ever so slightly at idle. By far the most noticeable engine noise is around 3200 RPMs and light engine load. This definitely could be described as valve flutter. I was keen on the noises it made when I first started riding but now am used to it.
I've revved the engine like this in the past (with the moped stationary), but for shorter durations. This time I'd say I was on full throttle ~5-10 seconds If the bike does not idle smoothly or takes a long time to settle back down to idle speed, and you've already cleaned the carburetor, you may have an airleak.

SERVICE Alert. If you own, or know someone who owns a MINI Cooper S (R56) car, from 2006.5 to 2011, read on with great interest or concern. With the push to get more new cars produced, broaden the product line, the life cycle has gotten shorter and shorter, and manufacturers have also taken other steps to outsource some major parts of the car to help in the rush to get this all done.

On some engines, damping engine vibrations and movement goes a step further with active engine mounts, usually vacuum-operated, controlled by the engine control module Airflow requirements at cruising speed are vastly different than at hard acceleration, and even more different than at idle.

An engine's idle is firstly set by a simple throttle stop, known as an idle screw. This screw takes its position on the side of the throttle body and stops the throttle linkage arm from completely shutting the butterfly valve that allows air to enter the intake manifold. The throttle stop allows the butterfly valve to...

Piston slap is a ticking sound coming from the lower parts of the engine (the pistons moving in the cylinders). If you have piston slap, you may need to replace the entire bottom half of the engine to get rid of the sound, as pistons typically aren't the only worn component -- typically, cylinders are worn as well.
